Clubhouse rules

The card doesn't lie

Every hole is a cocktail hole or a tap hole (beer, cider or wine, your call). Lowest net score at the 19th takes the Green Jacket.

R1The drinks

Cocktail holes: any cocktail on the menu. Tap holes: beer, cider or wine. Not drinking? Play every hole with a mocktail or soft drink. Same scorecard, same trophies.

R2Par and strokes

Par is the number of sips to finish the drink. Every sip is one stroke. Log it on your scorecard and your marker checks it at the 19th.

R3Water hazard

A glass of water between every hole is compulsory. Skip it and take +2. Nobody gets to Mulligan this one.

R4Cocktails are sipped

Hole-in-ones are only legal on tap holes. Cocktail holes have a minimum of 2 strokes. Nobody is skolling a $22 espresso martini on our watch.

R5Penalty strokes
  • Drinking with your right hand (spotter yells FORE!)+1
  • Talking shop: work, clients, KPIs, emails, Monday+1
  • Toilet break before Hole 4 (the bunker)+1
  • Spilling your drink (out of bounds)+1
  • Phone out at the bar, photos excepted+1
  • Calling it a "pub crawl"+1
  • Caught cheating+3
R6One Mulligan each

Cancel one penalty or replay one hole's score. Best dressed at Hole 1 earns a second Mulligan. Organiser's call, no appeals.

R7Local rules

Every hole has its own local rule on the course page. Local rules beat general rules.

R8Flights

We play in three flights of about eight. Each flight has a captain who orders, herds and keeps time, and flights stagger at the bar so the staff don't hate us.

R9The marshals

Bar staff are course marshals. If a venue says no, we move on, no arguing. Anyone refused service retires from the round with dignity and a lemonade, and is still welcome at the 19th.

R10Prizes

Green Jacket for the lowest net score. Club Sandwich for the highest, and that person organises next year. Also Best Dressed, the Out of Bounds award for most penalties, and the Happy Gilmore award for chaos.

Green fees

What it'll cost

Pay as you go at each hole. No kitty, nothing upfront. Estimates per person.

Keep it cheap

Schooners over pints, house wine over the fancy list, cheapest cocktail on the menu. Your score doesn't care what it cost.

Typical Sunshine Coast bar prices, not checked against each venue's menu. Pavilion is card only.
